“So my amazing daughter, Emma, turned 5 last month, and I had been searching everywhere for new-creative inspiration for her 5yr pictures. I noticed quite a pattern of so many young girls dressing up as beautiful Disney Princesses, no matter where I looked 95% of the “ideas” were the “How to’s” of how to dress your little girl like a Disney Princess…We chose 5 women (five amazing and strong women), as it was her 5th birthday but there are thousands of unbelievable women (and girls) who have beat the odds and fought (and still fight) for their equal rights all over the world”

Rasurado al ras!!
Well, Merida finally got the 2D make over to join the Princess franchise. First off, just like Rapunzel, Merida was given a 2D look so she could join the other Princesses. A banner with 2D and 3D princesses would just look plain stupid.
And people are complaining about her body image and the affect it will have on their daughters…………. First off, if your kid shapes her body image on a cartoon, you’re parenting wrong and is just terrible. And Merida clearly has the biggest waist and hips out of all the princesses, so she’s not “skinny” like the others. So what’s the problem?
And going on to say that she doesn’t look the same personality wise? I see her being brave and cocky in one pose, and the other sassy (smart ass). Which were both major parts of her personality in the movie. And she’s sexualized? I’m sorry, but formal gowns filled with endless glitter. That’s not sexy, that’s pretty. Little girl pretty with all that glitter going on.
And to see such comments saying that she doesn’t look tough anymore and looks too pretty is such crap. Since when does a woman have to be one or the other? Last time I checked, Mulan and Pocahontas were both pretty and tough. And even Ariel, Belle and Jasmine had their tough moments.
And if Disney “sexualizes” their princesses and you’re against it, stop buying your kids the products! No one is making you buy their stuff. And the princesses are not made to make girls feel like they need to look perfect. They are made to make little girls feel pretty no matter how they look or how they are. If you pay attention the movies, TV series, and even the books you would realize this. Hence the overly pretty dresses and accessories.
Everyone should be happy that Disney has decided to include a great character to join the Disney Princesses. Because there are other princesses that Disney has made and has not included them in the Princess franchise. I hope Disney keeps this design, and all you people can stay mad for something so trivial.
